A Year of Metirium: Transforming Spaces for the Modern Office

As we draw to the end of another year, it’s a great time to reflect on some of Metirium’s highlights of the last twelve months. As a relatively new business and brand, we can’t quite believe what an amazing year it’s been for our team.

We’re not too big to admit that the business didn’t start out quite so seamlessly, but any challenges we’ve faced have simply taught us to remain resilient in the face of adversity.

Anyway, more about that later. For now, we’d like to share a bit about what we’ve been up to for the last 365 days.

For any new refurbishment company, there’s nothing nicer than when you’re requested back to do more work for a client. It usually means that you’ve gone beyond what was asked of you. Building relationships, consulting and collaborating, and going that step further to create something wonderful…

That’s where the real difference lies.

After undertaking a huge renovation for Innova’s head office in Wetherby, we were asked to fitout their second office in Castleford. (On a side note – if you haven’t seen the photos of the Innova, Wetherby project, then you really must. (It beggars’ belief that people actually get to work in this brilliantly exciting, play-based office, and we’re so delighted to have been a key part of the transformation!)

Suffice to say, we were over the moon with the results, and so were Innova. Castleford was every bit as fulfilling, despite it requiring a full demolition before the magic begun! You can see the results of the Castleford project here.

Following on from the successes of their Leeds and Huddersfield offices, Schofield Sweeney also called us back to complete the client floor of their Bradford office. Nothing that Metirium couldn’t handle, mind – just six meeting rooms with curved glazed walls, a new kitchen, and a high-spec reception area with bespoke timber slat feature partition.

The more challenging the better, in our opinion – it’s what we do best!

In fact, this turned out to be one of our favourite jobs of the year. There’s nothing we relish more than working collaboratively with our clients to design and create cutting-edge office designs, and this epitomised that very luxury.

As with any fit out, there were a few challenges, including extra privacy requirements, lighting issues, and the need for office uniformity across all sites. But those that persevere, succeed, which is precisely what we did.

They asked – we delivered, in the form of a modern, stylish, client facing space that oozes the ‘wow’ factor. (Pictures will be coming soon, so keep a look out!)

As always, we’ve enjoyed building strong relationships with clients this year, both old and new. We’re huge ambassadors of getting to know everyone that we work with, it helps us to gain a better understanding of both them and their organisation, which ultimately impacts upon the end product.

It’s also been lovely to have a few of our smaller but long-standing clients requesting full refurbishments. It’s good to know that we’re valued and trusted as both a brand and a business.

What’s Metirium up to in 2023, you ask?

We’re ready to hit the ground running with four large projects during the first quarter of the year. We’re also faced with a large empty shell in Hull that’s set to transform from a blank canvas to an open-plan agile office with high spec director’s office, meeting rooms and a gym. High spec furniture, high ceilings, feature lighting, flooring and wall coverings make this one to watch. We’re super excited!

Of course, one of the real delights of what we do, is seeing the number of organisations that are choosing to invest in their workforce. A modern office space with flexible working arrangements is human-centric in design, and both wellbeing and productivity tend to fly high when workers are happy within their environment. It’s great to see the shift to a happier workspace really coming into its own.

So, back to what we were talking about earlier. When we launched back in 2020, we thought we’d allowed for every eventuality and planned every contingency (as one does with a new business).

We hadn’t accounted for the onset of a global pandemic!

We’re nothing if not honest, and at times, it was a worry! However, to then power on and complete several office fit outs for some large and reputable industry names such as Agfa HealthCare, Ascensor, Riva Home, Netcompany, Innova Care Concepts, and Schofield Sweeney showed us that hard work and determination really are the keys to success.

And that seems a great way to wrap things up.

Whatever your plans for next year, we wish you all the very best with them. Keep the faith as we did, and your aspirations will come to fruition.

In the meantime, let us take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support, and we truly hope to transform a space for you in the near future.

Don’t forget, a new office space is an investment in your people. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss your new office space.
